The Annual Stated Meeting of the Nine Incorporated Trades of Dundee was held on Tuesday, 6 October, at the City Chambers, bringing together members for a well-attended occasion marking an important transition in leadership.
A key highlight of the event was the ceremonial passing of the Deacon Convener’s Chain of Office from outgoing Deacon Convener, John Fyffe MBE, to newly installed Deacon Convener, Paul Leigh. The handover marked the conclusion of John’s distinguished tenure and the beginning of a new chapter for one of Dundee’s oldest civic institutions.
The meeting also saw the appointment of Bruce Donaldson as Collector for the Nine Incorporated Trades. In his new role, he will work closely alongside Deacon Convener Leigh in supporting the organisation’s ongoing activities and charitable commitments.
Addressing those in attendance, Lord Provost Bill Campbell paid tribute to John’s dedication and service during his time as Deacon Convener. He thanked him for his hard work and commitment to the role and expressed his appreciation for the strong relationship that had been developed between the City Council and the Nine Incorporated Trades over the past two years.
The gathering concluded with members extending their best wishes to Deacon Convener Leigh and Collector Donaldson as they prepare to lead the organisation, while recognising the significant contribution made by John Fyffe during his period in office.
