Dyer Craft AGM and Dinner

The Dyer Craft held their annual AGM and dinner at Discovery Point last night.

Deacon Wendy Maltman welcomed Craft members and guests who enjoyed talks from David F Wilson and Alison Burns FRSA.

David F Wilson is a Scottish based Public Artist who has created artworks primarily for urban public spaces across a 30-year career. Many of his projects involve the creative use of stone combining a modern aesthetic with traditional techniques. David spoke about his many varied stone projects, outlining his inspiration, motivations & commitment to the craft of working with stone. Travelling around the United States and Canada on a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship allowed him to research how other artists and craftsmen were developing their craft within contemporary situations.
Born in Dundee and now living in the Angus Glens, Alison Burns was the first female apprentice engineer at Timex before going on to study law and tutor in Company Law at Dundee University. Alison is a founding member of the Penny Dainties and is an award-winning jazz singer and actress having performed concerts throughout the world as well as the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. She co-founded a charity promoting music in schools across Scotland and also sits on the board of Nordoff Robbins Scotland, a charity which specialises in using music to transform the lives of children constrained by disability, trauma or isolation.
